Update: Leadership Transition

On March 21, Impact Austin announced that Christina Gorczynski will step away from her position as Executive Director as of June 30, 2022. Christina will not go far, as she looks forward to being a member of Impact Austin.

From Rebecca Powers, Impact Austin Founder:

My heart is full of gratitude for Christina’s leadership over the last four years. She has led with grit and grace, tenacity and tenderness, and everything in between. The pandemic gave her the opportunity to tap into the talents and creativity of our members to help make Impact Austin resilient in the face of uncertainty.

Two remarkable things will define her legacy. First, she developed a culture of inclusion that has brought significant diversity of thought to the organization and continues to make us better. Second, she expanded Impact Austin’s influence both in Central Texas and in the nation, because she believes in our model and wants others to experience the same satisfaction and success.

Thank you, Christina, for loving Impact Austin so fully and guiding us forward. You will always be a part of our family, and we will always honor your role in contributing to our success!

From Katherine Mudge, Impact Austin Board President:

Rebecca’s words and wisdom are right-on and I echo her appreciation for Christina’s leadership for Impact Austin. We all have been touched in some positive way by Christina’s leadership and legacy. And, Impact Austin is better for Christina’s accomplishments.

The Board is focused on moving forward to find our new Executive Director. We formed a Search Committee and the Committee held its first meeting last week. The Committee will retain an executive search firm, and we anticipate that the search will take 12-14 weeks once the search firm is on board. Our plan is to provide an update at the Annual Meeting.

The Search Committee and *Co-Chairs are:

*Deanna DeHaven Co-Founder & Producer, C2C Media LLC; Impact Austin Board Member; Co-Chair of Strategic Planning Committee

*Johanna Moya Fábregas – Executive Director, Con Mi MADRE

Dan Leal – Executive Director, Seedling; Impact Austin Strategic Advisory Council

Dina Mavridis – Global Director of Human Resources, Velocity Electronics; Impact Austin Member, Former Board member, Grants chair, and g3 sponsor

Katherine Mudge – Partner at Enoch Kever, PLLC; Impact Austin Board President

Lorene Phillips – Retired, Human Resources for IBM, Dell, Newisys, and Pedernales Electric Cooperative; Impact Austin Member and former Board member, Grants chair, and other leadership positions, Strategic Advisory Council Co-Chair

Lourdes Rodríguez– Sr. Program Officer, St. David’s Foundation; Impact Austin Strategic Advisory Council

The Board is also focused on providing certainty and consistency for Impact Austin during this time of transition. We are working closely with Christina, Nicole, and our amazing volunteer leadership to ensure that current initiatives continue and succeed, and that planning moves forward for next year's key events and initiatives. Board members are attending committee meetings to ensure that our volunteers are supported while a new Executive Director is found and onboarded. We encourage our members to continue with their plans and work for Impact Austin and to feel comfortable in reaching out to any of the Board members with questions. With your help, I am confident that we will not lose our footing or our forward momentum.

In advance, I want to thank all of the volunteers that make Impact Austin what it is today and who will continue to play a vital role with our new leadership.
