Impact Austin is signing up members for the coming year of innovative grant making and you can help!
The Membership Committee has been hard at work, arranging upcoming events, and the one on July 14th, 2015 will have a special guest you will want to hear from!
Back in 2009, Capital IDEA won the Impact Austin Family Grant.
The Capital Idea application said, "The Career Paths for Rural Families project will transform the lives of up to 50 families living in poverty in rural Travis, Williamson, Bastrop and Hays counties by sponsoring education and providing personal development assistance to the heads of household. This education will allow them to obtain a degree or certification toward a career that pays a true living wage and offers benefits. The project will pay for participant’s tuition, fees, books, childcare, transportation and emergency expenses, as well as provide case management to keep each participant motivated in their coursework and to assist them in times of personal need. Twenty-five individuals will graduate and enter career employment within the two-year project period, transforming the long-term economic prospects of their families. An additional 20 will complete 3 or more semesters of coursework and will graduate after the two-year Project period."
A representative of Capital IDEA will join us at our July 14th Membership Social Event to share the difference Impact Austin has made through this grant and our involvement with them as a Community Partner! This is that rare opportunity to ask questions you want to ask, and introduce your friends and potential members of Impact Austin to the real and lasting effects collective giving has on our community.
