Semi-Finalists Selected for Girls Giving Grants' 2024 Award

Girls Giving Grants (g3) is Impact Austin's youth initiative and giving circle for young women in grades 8-12. g3 makes annual awards to Austin-area nonprofits that serve Central Texas youth. Since founding, they have awarded $115,600 to 18 organizations. At their January 21 meeting, the 55 members of g3 named five nonprofits as semi-finalists for their 2024 grant of $8,500.

The organizations moving forward are:

Each Application Review Committee (ARC) will prepare a visual and oral presentation to the entire g3 membership in order to advocate for one of the semi-finalists above. Later this month, the entire membership will select two grant finalists from among these five. Site visits to those finalists will follow, with the vote to select the single grant recipient scheduled for April 14. g3's grant award will be presented at Impact Austin's Annual Meeting on June 10 at the Austin Public Library.

Members of Girls Giving Grants donate $125 each, with $100 directly applied to that year's grant. For the 2024 award, g3 was able to boost the grant size with funds donated through the Amplify Austin fundraiser. The next class of Girls Giving Grants will register during August-September, 2024.

Over the summer, we heard from Aurna Mukherjee, the current President of Girls Giving Grants. She wrote, "I am proudest of the grant process at g3. I think what g3 does is so unique, in that there is complete clarity of the grant proposal an organization makes - members understand the budget for a project, and can consider how credible and capable an organization is, along with the impact that the project will have. In addition, being able to speak with representatives of selected nonprofits and perform virtual/in person visits lets members gain a better understanding."

While registration is currently closed for Girls Giving Grants, please learn more about g3 here.

Registration will open to new members during the summer of 2024. Girls in grades 8-12 will be invited to join here.
