We're thrilled to introduce Gilyn Gibbs, a 2026 Impact Austin member who was originally a member of GIrls Giving Grants!

Gilyn grew up in Austin, moved away a few times, but kept coming back. Her most recent return was about a year ago from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gilyn earned her Bachelor's Degree and Project Management Certification from the University of Texas. For the last ten years, she has worked with a recruitment firm that focuses on finding work for veterans transitioning out of the military. Upon returning to Austin, Impact Austin helped re-introduce Gilyn to her city.

Gilyn was a member of Girls Giving Grants through two grant cycles during 2009-2011. She told us, "I absolutely loved being a member of g3 and it really launched my passion for philanthropy. I have been involved with philanthropy in some way ever since. I became certified in social entrepreneurship and nonprofits when I was in undergrad at UT and spent a summer in Ecuador volunteering for an organization called Amigos de las Americas. I worked and interned at social enterprises throughout college and after college was a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters for almost five years. My Little Sister and I are still in touch. She just graduated from St. Edwards and is going on to get a Masters Degree in Psychology (so proud!)."

Why did Gilyn want to join Impact Austin again, this time in an adult role? "I was looking to re-engage with the Austin community after moving back home and immediately thought of Impact Austin. It is a great way to meet like-minded women and learn about the many great nonprofit organizations we have here. I love the idea of compounding our impact by joining forces and funding and making our dollars stretch as far as possible. I am so excited to be involved with g3 again and pass the torch on to the next generation of philanthropists."

How fortunately we are to have a former g3 member now as a Co-Chair of Girls Giving Grants!

Gilyn GIbbs jumped right into Impact Austin membership with Girls GIving Grants.

Girls Giving Grants welcomes young women in grades 8-12 to register for the 2026-2027 class. Learn more about g3 and find links to the upcoming schedule, their registration form, past grant impact, and more.
