Introducing Our New Members

December is a time for celebration and we are kicking it off with an introduction to some amazing women who are joining us in our mission of collective giving.  We hope you enjoy meeting them! We asked them three basic questions – How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, what is your short and sweet biography, and what do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you? Here are their answers!

Meet Jenny Cotner and say “Hi!” the next time you see her.

"I first heard about Impact Austin on KUT and then two women I know from a professional organization invited me to a coffee they were hosting. In addition to the mission, the chance to meet fabulous women inspired me to join."

"An introverted geek at heart (I majored in math and economics in college!), I’m a "numbers and analysis" gal. Career-wise I started in management consulting but have spent the last sixteen years in the retail industry in corporate roles blending finance and operations. Along the way, I've specialized in transformations of existing teams and brands, as well as in improving customer experience, and profits, through better labor scheduling."

"I don't have children so I moved to Austin in 2015 to be a local aunt to my brother's kids (now 7 and 5) and a cousin's daughter (now 11)."

Meet Christina Harvey, and say hello the next time you see her!

“Prior to moving to Austin, I was researching organizations influencing change and promoting a culture of philanthropy in Austin and Impact Austin continued to pop up. As a non-profit professional, I was inspired to join to learn more about the grant-making process and to build relationships with women passionate about strengthening the impact of non-profits in our community.”

“I have dedicated my entire professional career to empowering individuals through education and mentorship. Prior to joining Seedling as Development Director, I managed institutional giving at KIPP Austin Public Schools as Corporate and Foundation Giving Manager, and previously served in a variety of leadership capacities at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, an organization preparing low-income students for the rigors of higher education.”

“As a life-long learner and explorer, you can be sure to find me getting lost in a book or the streets of Austin in my spare time.”

Meet Nancy Smith and say “Hi!” the next time you see her.

“I have heard about Impact Austin through the news for years and was able to attend a coffee hosted by Dawn Skinner. I want to get more involved in giving back to the Austin community.”

“I am a self-employed consultant working to improve the use of data in education to inform policy and practice. I have worked with non-profits, state agencies and the U.S. Department of Education on educational research and data system design and governance for the past 20 years.”

“I am an avid fan of the University of Texas women’s basketball, volleyball and softball teams.”
