Introducing Our New Members

Celebrating fifteen years of amazing impact, we are excited to introduce you to new members that we know you will want to get to know better. We asked them three basic questions – How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, what is your short and sweet biography, and what do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you? Here are their answers!

Meet Amy Atsumi and say hello the next time you see her!

“I first heard about Impact Austin several years ago when I first moved to Austin. While I did not have the time to join then, it has been an organization which has remained in my mind over the years. Recently, a good friend invited me to attend the 2017 Annual Meeting. It was absolutely amazing to feel, hear and see the incredible generosity and passion of Impact Austin to help community organizations aimed at making Austin a place of support and enrichment to all in need.”

“I am thrilled at the opportunity and privilege to work alongside other women making a positive difference in Austin. I believe my role as a woman, a mother, and a citizen is to contribute to the communities in which I live, and I believe Impact Austin is the right next place for me to do my part and set an example for my children.”

“People might be surprised to know that I have lived in 2 countries and 6 different U.S. states so far. And, while I spent the majority of my younger years living in the beautiful state of Colorado, I didn’t learn how to ski until I moved to California.”

Meet Susan R. Brown, and say “Hi!” the next time you see her.

“My dear friend Jeanne White asked me if I wanted to come to the final meeting where the members voted for the nonprofits who would get very generous grants from Impact Austin. I was so impressed with the whole process that I signed up immediately.”

“I am a former High School History Teacher specializing in American History. The last thirty plus years I have worked as a Real Estate agent specializing in Relocation. After raising two sons now is the time I want to give back to my community."

“It might be of interest to fellow members that I collect Papier Mache and First Edition History Books.”

“I was born to two Texas Exes and grew up a huge Longhorn fan but ultimately chose to attend (and graduate from) Texas A&M and have never worn a hint of burnt orange since! Gig 'em!”

Meet Linda Carey and say hello the next time you see her!

“I learned of Impact Austin through friends in a book club and remembered hearing Rebecca Powers talk about it years ago. I have attended several open events and am always impressed by the enthusiasm of the group!”

“I’ve lived in Austin for 30+ years and raised three sons here. I love our community and want to see it continue to thrive.”

“I am so happy to be a part of Impact Austin!”
