On Monday, January 25, the 76 members of Girls Giving Grants (g3) announced the semi-finalists for their $7,600 grant award. Following deep-dive review, finalists will be announced on February 7 and virtual site visits will follow on April 3. In mid-April, the g3 team will vote for their 2021 grantee.
Girls Giving Grants is Impact Austin's youth initiative, which launched in 2006. Members of g3 are girls in grades 8-12 who have an interest in making a difference and learning about the community and philanthropy. They come from all over Central Texas and meet every other week from fall to spring to award one collective grant to a youth-serving nonprofit. Between 2006-2020, their #collectivegiving generated more than $90,000 in grants.
The 2020-2021 g3 class began meeting in August, first with the leadership team, then welcoming new members in October. Training for g3 members included these topics: community needs and teambuilding (November ); grant application review and financial evaluation (November); and public speaking/presentation skills (January). At this stage of g3's process, each Area Review Committee (ARC) is preparing to advocate to the entire membership for the semi-finalist they have carefully scrutinized.
Congratulations to these nonprofits who have advanced to the semi-finalist stage for the Girls Giving Grants award.
