Girls Giving Grants Launch Their 2026-2027 Grant Process
by Rebecca Birch,
Impact Austin member and g3 Co-Chair

Girls Giving Grants (g3) is the youth initiative of Impact Austin, a giving circle for girls in grades 8-12, founded in 2006. Members of g3 pool $125 donations each year to collectively fund one grant announced in April. Each fall, training activities prepare them for the grant review process.
The 63 members of 2026-2027 Girls Giving Grants launched their grant cycle on Sep 13 with the announcement of a $9,000 grant opportunity. Applications are open until Oct 23. Their 2026 grant award will be announced in late April, and Impact Austin members will celebrate with them at our June Annual Meeting!
The year's program began with a leadership retreat that included g3 officers, Application Review Committee (ARC) chairs and co-chairs, as well as the adult co-chairs and advisors. The Leadership Retreat focuses on developing leadership and facilitation skills, managing an ARC, and planning for the year ahead.

The full membership kicked off with the g3 Welcome Meeting, where the focus was getting to know each other and ensuring the 23 new members felt welcomed and prepared. The ARCs worked on the ARC Superhero Project where they created a superhero that represented the values and beliefs they wanted reflected in their ARC. This year’s ARC Superheroes included: Optimistic Octopus, Mindful Mermaid, and Captain Communicator (see below).
In October, the girls will meet for Grant Evaluation Training, where they will learn the key components of grant review, how to apply the evaluation criteria, as well as completing an ethics training activity. These activities will set the stage for the November meeting where they will receive the grant applications and begin the review process, which will continue through January.
