Rural Single Mothers Education Project
Capital IDEA lifts working adults out of poverty and into living wage careers through education.
The Impact Austin grant will support the Rural Single Mothers Education Project, serving 100 rural mothers by paying for their community college tuition and all associated expenses in order to guide them from dead-end jobs or unemployment to employment in skilled careers.
Impact Austin’s grant expanded Capital IDEA’s program outside Austin to support single mothers in Buda, Elgin, Kyle, Hutto, Leander, Manor, San Marcos, and Taylor Texas.
With a goal of 100 single mothers participating, 94 women were already enrolled at the beginning of the project, and 176 total were sponsored during the course of grant funding
125 women actively took classes, and 100 students completed an average of 3 semesters
With a goal of 40 finding full-time employment during the grant period, 28 women gained employment, 3 were seeking employment, and 7 more were close to graduating during the grant funding period.
45 women were continuing their studies. Five women went inactive.
