Introducing Our New Members
Thanks abound at Impact Austin this month for the amazing women who are joining us in our mission of collective giving. We hope you meeting them! We asked them three basic questions – How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, what is your short and sweet biography, and what do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you? Here are their answers!
Meet Michelle Cullen and say “Hi!” the next time you see her.
“I just moved to Austin in early September. A friend of mine invited me to join her at one of the coffee sessions to help me meet some new people. I was impressed with the work Impact Austin is doing and thought it would be a good way for me to quickly jump in and get to know and support my community.”
“I love the outdoors and being active; I do my best to support those around me; I dream of writing a mystery book and having it published!"
“I’ve spent a good deal of my adult life living overseas and traveling the world—for school, work and fun.”
Meet Amy Shimota and say hello the next time you see her!
“My fellow mom friend from our preschool invited me to an Impact Austin event. The timing was perfect because I was looking for a way to get more involved in the community and in philanthropy, and I also wanted to get to know people outside of the small social circle I have built in my three years in Austin.”
“I am a wife and mom of three girls and recently returned to work in Financial Services (Banking Risk Management at USAA) after taking some time off. I arrived in Austin via Michigan > NYC > Sao Paulo (and Go Blue!).”
“I earned a Level 1 Anusara Yoga Teacher certification while I was living in Brazil, mostly as a way to practice Portuguese while learning about something that interested me. When people hear that they think I am very graceful and flexible, but I am quite the opposite!”
Meet Caroline Valentine and say, “Hi!” the next time you see her.
“I discovered Impact Austin many years ago through friends and fellow board members of a local Austin non-profit. I had thought about joining every year for the past several and finally, the timing was right!”
” I am passionate about focused localized community support in both my business and personal lives.”
“Former professional actor, choreographer, and director, I worked on the ‘Barney & Friends’ TV show for a season, as well as commercials and movies. In fact, I still vote in the SAG Awards every year.”
