Join Us for Impact Austin’s Discovery Day

Saturday, November 14th

8:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.

Region 13 Education Center
5701 Springdale Road
Austin, TX 78723 (map)

Discovery Day is one of Impact Austin's signature events!  We will learn from community leaders and subject matter experts to enhance our knowledge of the critical issues impacting Central Texas. Speakers will share their insights about challenges and trends in each of our 2016 grant making focus areas: culture, education, environment, and family.
This event is open to all members and prospective members, and each member is welcome to invite a friend or two, to introduce them to Impact Austin.
The morning will begin with registration, networking and a continental breakfast.

The presentations will begin at 8:30 a.m. featuring these distinguished speakers:

Demographics: Richard Froeschle, Labor Market Economist, formerly with Texas Workforce Commission

Education: Paul Cruz, Ph.D., Superintendent Austin Independent School District

Culture: William Kelly, Professor, Department of Sociology, The University of Texas at Austin

Environment: Carter Smith, Executive Director, Texas Parks and Wildlife

Family: Margaret Bassett, Director, Expert Witness Programs, Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, The University of Texas at Austin

A New Member Orientation Session is scheduled immediately following the Discovery Day program.

New Impact Austin members are invited from 12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. to lunch and learn more about Impact Austin, including our history, organizational structure, volunteer opportunities and the grant process.
